Gallery walls seem to be all the craze these days and after reading this blog post I knew if I had stairs in a future home I’d like to do something very similar..(if you like design/diy blogs you will love this blog!) Well…we actually did end up moving to a home with stairs and after going back and forth whether or not it was worth the effort in a rental home I just couldn’t resist the temptation! I ended up using the same colors as Sandra, from sawdustandpaperscraps.com, except instead of the dark green “oregano spice” she used I went with a lighter shade of green and also threw in my current favorite blue, Benjamin Moore’s, “Wedgewood Gray” and a light yellow as well. I used frames I already had and a few frames I’d picked up from second hand stores around town in recent months with this project in mind. It took me several days working on sections and doing a few frames at a time. I didn’t make a plan on my wall at all, usually I am a ‘let’s just do it and it will work out’ type of person..not the best at planning. Unfortunately my stairs aren’t huge and open like the ones in my inspiration photo so my pictures aren’t great because of the angles of the stairwell. After all the painting and placement was done the frames sat empty for a few months (sad!) but a few weeks ago I finally had the impetus to get the photos in them and call this project done. Here’s how it turned out:
It was really hard to get a good picture of everything because of the stairwell angles so you have to see it in pieces. I am really happy I did this..it made our rental home feel a lot more…homey. ;-)
