Our First Home

 

We bought our first home in O’Fallon, Missouri!  Who would have thought?…..Not us.

It is still kind of surreal for us to have finally purchased a home, but here we are…and we LOVE it!  The hardest part, as most of you home owners I’m sure can agree, has been having so many ideas for our new home, but no money to fund these projects and purchases!  I’m trying so hard to have patience, and being forced to try and think outside of the box to achieve the look I want on a budget. 

We’ve been here about 8 weeks now and the walls are still mostly bare, and we still have a stack of boxes to unpack, but we will get there.  For now we’ve just been so grateful to have the extra space for us and for company, and being closer to Charlie’s work has been a relief for us in many ways.  We’ve been so grateful to still be able to go visit in Washington often, and for others to drive out to visit with us…it is about a 45 minute drive.

We are still familiarizing ourselves with the area, as we we hadn’t ever stopped in this area for anything, it was more of a drive by on the freeway kind of place for us…but we have found lots of good shopping and eating so that has been a bonus.  Another bonus is how well our kids have adapted.  They easily transitioned into their new classes and have quickly made school and neighborhood friends.  Although they still would prefer to live in Washington and go to their old school there, they have seemed to understand our reasons for moving and are grateful we live just a short drive away.
